Getting to Rio Lagartos | Bus Schedules & Travel Guide

Traveling by bus is a convenient and frequent option. Please note: All buses from major cities connect in Tizimín. From Tizimín, you can continue to Río Lagartos via bus, collective van, or taxi.

Pro Tip: Bus schedules change occasionally. We recommend arriving at the terminal 20 minutes early to verify the exact departure time.

Step 1: Traveling to Tizimín

Step 2: From Tizimín to Río Lagartos

Once you arrive in Tizimín, you have three easy options to reach the coast:

  1. NORESTE Bus:
    • Direct: 5:00 am, 6:30 am
    • Via San Felipe: 9:15 am, 11:15 am, 2:15 pm, 4:15 pm, 7:45 pm
    • Other routes: 4:30 am (via Espita), 10:00 am (via Panaba)
  2. Shared Vans (Colectivos):
    • Located in the Super Willy’s parking lot (one block from the bus stations). These are faster and depart as soon as they are full.
  3. Taxis:
    • Available directly in front of the bus stations. This is the fastest and most private option.

Returning: From Río Lagartos to Tizimín & Beyond

  • Bus Departures: 5:30 am, 6:30 am, 7:00 am, 9:00 am, 11:00 am, 12:30 pm, 2:00 pm, 3:30 pm, 4:00 pm, 5:15 pm.
  • Vans: Shared vans are available throughout the day and can often pick you up directly at your hotel.

Connections from Tizimín:

  • To Mérida: 5:30 am, 6:45 am, 7:30 am, 12:00 pm, 6:30 pm.
  • To Cancún: 3:30 am, 5:15 am, 6:15 am, 8:30 am, 12:15 pm, 2:30 pm, 5:15 pm.
  • To Valladolid: Frequent service from 5:30 am to 7:30 pm.
